Beading Links

Beaded Bezel for a Cabochon: This site contains one method for making a beaded bezel for a cabochon.  This link takes you to page one of the tutorial.  You will find the link for page two at the bottom of page one.

Diane Fitzgerald: Diane Fitzgerald is an amazing bead artist and author of such books as Shaped Beadwork, Beading with Brick Stitch, and others.  Her specialty is dimensional work.  She creates a free calendar every year that highlights some of her newest designs.

Guide to Beadwork: A beaded Jewelry Primer.  This site contains an online version of this book.  The book starts with the basics and proceeds through seven different stitches plus an entire chapter on fringe work.

Beaded Bead Tutorial from Natalie S: An adorable beaded bead design.  As soon as we get a sample made at the shop we will post a picture.

Orientation to Beads: A very detailed and all inclusive article on beads including history, types of beads, differences between the differences in beads from different countries, types of beads, making beads, seed bead sizing, findings, and so forth and so on.  There are three parts to this article.  The link takes you to part one.

Jeanette Shanigan: Jeanette is a bead designer and author as well as the founder of Breast Cancer Quilt project.  We have participated in this project in the past and intend to participate in the future.  Check this site towards the end of the year for information on the next year's theme as well as links to free patterns for the quilt blocks.

Spiral V Necklace: An online tutorial for making a V-shaped necklace using the Spiral Rope technique.  This design is great for incorporating a focal bead pendant.

Crochet Beaded Rope: An online tutorial for doing a crochet beaded rope.  this is one of the best illustrated tutorials I have seen for this technique.

Turkish Loop Crochet: We have a bracelet in the shop that was made using this technique.  The bracelet was made using a pattern in Bead and Button magazine.  This tutorial is not the best and hopefully we can find a better one.  Until we do hopefully some of the more experienced bead-crocheters will find this tutorial useful.  Note: the link at the top of the page that is supposedly to more photos of the technique is out of date.

Aunties Beads: Videos: This link takes you to the tutorial for the Flat Spiral bracelet.  There are currently 113 total video tutorials from Aunties Beads.  these tutorials are very well produced and presented.  We recommend you have lots of free time before entering this site because you will get lost in all the wonderful presentations.

3D Beading: Lots of fun and free beading patterns for 3D items.  Critters, crosses, hearts, beaded beads and more.  VERY FUN!

Knitting Links

Ravelry:  A knitting and crochet internet community.  this site requires a free membership.  It is a great resource for free patterns, pattern help, yarn information, and discussion groups.  We have our own discussion group here called Amador County Knitters.

Cascade Patterns: Free patterns using cascade yarns.  There are additional pages of patterns that are available for download for a small fee.

Book Corrections for Knitting Fever yarn lines: We carry several of the books from Knitting Fever to support their yarns we carry such as Araucania, Noro, Elsebeth Lavold and others.  Check this site before starting any of the patterns to see if there are corrections available.

Schaefer Yarn Patterns: Free and inexpensive patterns using Schaefer Yarns.

Color Links

Color Explorer: One of several great sites for playing with color combinations.  Pull colors from a favorite photo to create a palette or browse their color libraries to create your own personal palette.

Color Hunter: Similar to Color Explorer.  This site also has a tool for creating color palettes from photos.

Color Scheme Designer: This online tool has a strong tendency to create a timewarp.  You will enter the site one minute and exit a few minutes later only to discover that it is hours later than you think.  An incredibly fun and useful site.

Color Jack: This website has several color programs available for different applications.  Some of the programs available are FREE.
